Music Marketing Planning Process
Earlier in the week, us students were asked to individually research a specific genre given to each group, ours was Country. In order to research this genre we had to choose two country artists/bands (depending) that fall under the same company. For instance, my company was Columbia Records and I divided my research into two parts by doing Luke Combs and then Maren Morris. This research consisted of background knowledge, target audience, brand identity, digital marketing and distribution along with non-digital marketing and distribution methods for each artist. Today in class, my group and I started planning what each of us are going to do for this music marketing project since it is a lot of work. The overall objective of this project is to create a marketing campaign for a new music artist/group and develop their brand. So first, we established a name for our artist based on her genre of music, country, so we picked "Oakley Wren." We also chose the song we wanted last class, which was "Need You Now" by Lady Antebellum.We are planning on meeting up to film the main scenes from our Storytelling music video. We decided to start the filming process during Thanksgiving break that way we can get ahead and have a set plan in motion for when we continue working on it in class. We are super excited to start filming because we came up with specific scenes we can incorporate into the music video portion along with album/single covers (marketing). Then as soon as we get back from break our main priority is going to be getting the presentation started with the marketing plans.
